Ingredients

  • 3 cups water divided
  • 2 tsp hibiscus tea (2 regular sized hibiscus tea bags)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice about 6 lemons
  • 5-6 cups ice

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup. Heat 2 cups of water over high heat to a boil. Place the hibiscus tea in the water and reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Allow the tea to steep for up to 5 minutes. Remove the tea and press the bag to extract any liquid from the tea bag, then discard it. Bring the tea to a boil, then add the sugar. Stir the sugar into the water until it is completely dissolved. Place the simple syrup in the fridge until it is chilled.

  2. Squeeze the lemons. Use a citrus juicer to squeeze the lemon juice.

  3. Combine in a blender. In a high powered blender, combine teh hibiscus simple syrup, lemon juice, 1 cup of water, and 5 or 6 heaping cups of ice. Blend the mixture until it resembles the texture of an Icee. Serve with springs of mint, lemon slices, and cute straws. Mangia!
